Antoine Griezmann is set to be at the centre of a three-way tussle this summer, with City understood to be in pole position to land him.
According to Mike McGrath writing in the Sun, City will offer £70 million for the forward.
Chelsea and Manchester United are desperate to capture the Atletico Madrid man and both have a long-standing interest in securing his signature – but City will look to gazump their rivals and land the Frenchman.
Griezmann was the star of this summer’s European Championships and is widely seen as one of the finest talents in the game.
Meanwhile, Ilkay Gundogan believes Sergio Aguero is going nowhere.
The Argentine ace has been linked with a move away from City, a notion Gundogan has emphatically rejected.
He told the Mirror’s Steve Bates: “I think he will stay here. I have no doubt about that.
“He’s very good. I’m lucky that I played with Robert Lewandowski at Borussia Dortmund and now Sergio.
“Lewandowski, of course, is taller, but both are very strong and are able to keep the ball. And Sergio, he’s just a goal machine. I mean if he has the chances to score then 90–95 per cent of the time he will score.
“If you know you have such a player in your team then you know that you are always able to score and will always create your chances.
“Sergio is extremely important for us and while he didn’t score against Barcelona in our Champions League win, he worked a lot and ran a lot and just tried to keep every ball for us.”
And, finally, according to Sam Long writing in the Metro, City and Liverpool are now joint-favourites to win the Premier League.
Liverpool battered Watford 6-1 on Sunday, leaving them top of the table going into the international break.
“Liverpool and Manchester City are joint favourites to win the Premier League title this season after Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by north London rivals Tottenham,” Long writes.
“Pep Guardiola’s side have failed to win four of their last five top-flight games but have still been backed to finish on top of the pile.
“Arsenal are available at 6/1 while Tottenham are further adrift at 20/1 - the same as Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.”
It’s certainly tight at the top and the race could go to the wire.
