Firstly, there are widespread reports suggesting Manchester City are confident of signing Lionel Messi.
The Barcelona forward, widely seen as the finest player the game has ever seen, is understood to be stalling on a new deal at the Camp Nou, leaving the Catalan side considering a sale.
Stuart Brennan at the Manchester Evening News writes: “Lionel Messi is being linked with a sensational move to Manchester City… and that could spark the Blues into action next summer.
“The Spanish daily newspaper Marca claims that the Argentina superstar has indicated he will not be renewing his deal with Barcelona when it expires in 18 months' time.
“And if Messi indicates that he will run down his contract, rather than risk losing him for nothing Barca are likely to be open to offers next summer.
“City are confident that they will be at the head of the queue for his services if he does ever move on from his only senior club.
“Marca claim that Messi made his decision in the summer, after becoming disillusioned with the way he has been pursued by the Spanish tax authorities.”
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has praised the work carried out by Guardiola since he was appointed City boss in the summer, saying the quality the Blues boast is "undeniable".
"City have already developed well in a short time," Lahm told Bayern TV.
"From the games that I have watched, the trainer's [Guardiola] trademark is clearly evident from their style of play. We know him from the last three years and you can already see he has stamped his mark."
"We'll see how far City progress in the Champions League. But the quality of their team and coach is undeniable.
"Fine margins decide in the Champions League. Barcelona are still top of the group, meaning City will probably finish second and would have to play a group winner. A very strong opponent lies waiting in the last 16 when any side can easily exit the competition.
"You can never say this or that team must win the Champions League. Like in the Bundesliga, it's always hard work and you need a little bit of luck."
That’s all for this morning’s round-up! There will be more tomorrow morning on ManCity.com.
