Despite the loss, it was an impressive night in Munich for the City starlets as the youngsters impressed in Pep’s first game in charge of the blues.
As Dom Farrell reports for Goal.com; “teenage full-backs Pablo Maffeo and Angelino won special praise from the Catalan following their mature displays at Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
“Pep Guardiola was satisfied with Manchester City’s “amazing” youngsters in the 1-0 friendly defeat to Bayern Munich.
“Guardiola was afforded a warm welcome just two months on from bringing down the curtain on a trophy-laden three seasons in Bavaria and he was visibly delighted to be back in familiar surroundings.
Joe Bernstein for the Daily Mail compliments in that “the showing of summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko and others in the Allianz Arena would have pleased the new man.
“Don’t be surprised to see him [Zinchenko] get game time in the Premier League this season.” Writes Bernstein, the Ukrainian was arguably City’s brightest spark of young talent during the outing on a warm Bavarian evening.
“The other City starlets are perhaps more for the future, with the exception of Iheanacho who scored 14 goals last season, mainly in cup competitions.”
All in all, it’s hard to not congratulate everything we saw from City in last night’s defeat. The youngsters were brilliant and as the more ‘seasoned’ City stars return from vacation, we can expect an even stronger side in China.
Onto the continued saga that is Leroy Sane in today’s Transfer Talk.
In a column written by Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph; it is said that “Pep Guardiola admits price is stalling Manchester City’s move for Leroy Sane.
“City have confirmed they have opened talks for the midfielder but there is a significant difference in valuations.
“Earlier in the summer there were suggestions Sané would be available for £30 million.”
The Telegraph also report that “Sané himself has made it known he wants to move to the Etihad and negotiations will now continue over the price.
As we close out today’s edition of Transfer Talk, one of Guardiola’s former stars (he had a lot of them) looks like he could be targeted by us Blues.
Anderson and Maddock of the Mirror claim that “Manchester City have launched an audacious £50million bid to sign Toni Kroos from Real Madrid.
“The Blues have made an approach and have received encouragement that a deal may be possible.”
With that being said, “City have not spoken directly to Real and are wary about being used to engineer a pay rise for Kroos, who has four years left on his current £90,000-a-week agreement.”
That’s all from Transfer Talk today, be sure to check out ‘In Other News’ as reports suggest that it looks more likely for our neighbours to sign a certain French star.
