City v Tottenham: All the key stats

City's 2-2 draw with Tottenham proved to be a real roller-coaster ride of emotions for the Etihad supporters.

On what was our 850th Premier League game, there was no shortage of drama with Pep Guardiola’s side once more agonisingly denied by an injury-time VAR decision against the Londoners which ruled out Gabriel Jesus's injury-time strike.

The headlines show there were two goals apiece with both sides claiming a point.

Despite the frustration of not taking all three points, in the immediate aftermath, City manager Guardiola declared it one of the most outstanding performances he had witnessed.

The champions also boasted a 91 per cent pass accuracy rating and created 607 total passes compared to Spurs’ 501 with City enjoying 56 per cent possession to Tottenham's 44 per cent ratio.

Kevin De Bruyne garnered widespread praise and acclaim for a wonderful individual performance with the Belgian midfielder providing both of City’s assists for Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero’s goals.

Fully fit again after a last season’s frustrating injury issues, De Bruyne has already created the same number of assists in the first fortnight of this term– three – that he did in the whole of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign. Stats that only augur well for the rest of the season.

Sterling meanwhile also maintained his own superb start to the campaign thanks to his smartly-taken first-half header.

The boss spoke on Friday about how he saw no reason why the England international couldn’t go on to record 30 goals in a season.

Sterling looks more than up for the challenge having begun the new campaign in lethal fashion.

He has now scored in four consecutive club appearances in all competitions for the first time in his professional career, netting seven goals in these four games to boot.

Aguero meanwhile opened his account for the season with a trademark instinctive finish.

It was Kun’s 97th Premier League goal at the Etihad. Only Wayne Rooney (101) at Old Trafford and Thierry Henry (114) at Highbury have scored more times at a single venue in the league’s history.
