Things We Love: Week Two

Things We Love: Week Two
It’s the second instalment of our new weekly “Things We Love” series as we take a look at the best of the City-centric web.

What’s caught our eye in the last seven days? Let’s take a look…

Read

FourFourTwo: Guardiola's 16-point blueprint

Put aside a bit of time for this one, it’s an epic read but it’s well worth your attention.

Andy Murray (no, not that one) gets to the heart and inside the man of our new manager in his revealing “16 point blueprint” article which initially featured in FourFourTwo magazine a couple of months ago and has now been posted online.

From Pep’s tactical flexibility to his reliance on midfield “conductors” via his proclivity for self-criticism, all areas are covered in this beard-strokingly cerebral piece.

Read it here.

Tactics

Twitter: @Szteveo

Staying with tactics, Twitter’s @Szteveo has analysed City’s play on Saturday in forensic detail.

Going further than the baseline “Sagna and Clichy came inside to play in midfield” observation trotted out by many, Istvan uses a series of three pictures to show why they did that and what effect it had on the game.

Watch

Ashley Smith-Brown’s first professional goal

City starlet Ashley Smith-Brown is already making quite a name for himself at NAC Breda and will have ingratiated himself with his new supporter-base with a quite stunning goal at the weekend.

A wonderful improvised finish from the England youth international which went some way towards earning him a place in the league’s Team of the Week…

Pass

NYCFC: Pirlo > Villa

You might not see a better pass this week than this beauty from “il professore” himself in NYCFC’s 3-3 draw at Columbus Crew…

Stats

Official Premier League website

The Premier League website’s new Stats Centre is one impressive numerical behemoth for all you anorak-sporting stat-o-philes out there.

With figures that span as far back as the first year of the league back in 1992/93, their innovative dashboard allows you to compare and contrast between players and teams from different eras of the Premier League right up to the present day.

Just a cursory glance at the homepage will tell you two pleasing little facts about the opening day of the season with Fernandinho and City having completed the highest number of passes of any player or team in the league.

Check it out here.
